JUST ANOTHER RUNNERS RAMBLINGS
Showing your working
Much like every other person in their late twenties, I spend a large proportion of my time contemplating the future. What do I need to be doing now to ensure future success? What does success even look like? For a long time, my biggest struggle has simply been deciding what. What do I actually want to dedicate my time and effort to? Passion is not something that has simply fallen into my lap. I do, however, feel closer to answering this question than ever before.
When asked about my interests growing up, I often said, “Sports.” It was this simple enjoyment (and, frankly, a lack of any other interests) that took me to university in the first place and eventually led me to physiotherapy. If I am being honest with myself, though, I am not really that much of a sports guy, at least not in the traditional sense. Something about endurance, though, has drawn me in time after time as I search for meaning in my life. The choice and commitment to undertaking an endeavour that asks more of you than you think possible can provide meaning that extends well beyond the completion of that task alone. For the first time, passion might just be revealing itself.
So, why a blog? Three main reasons, I suppose. Firstly, I have always found clarity in writing. I definitely cannot rely on sporadic social media posts alone to tell my story. Secondly, I want an excuse to document and reflect on my experiences as they happen. Finally, if anyone reading gets a bit of enjoyment or learns something along the way, that is a bonus.
My plan is to document my thoughts, lessons, and experiences as I pursue a career in physiotherapy, coaching, and endurance sport.
UTA50 2026 Reflection
A year of hard work later and it’s time to take on UTA50 once again.
UTA50 2025 Reflection
This one was fun. It would have been easy to brush UTA50 off as a easy step down from the 100km distance at Tarawera. Half the distance, half as hard right? Wrong.
Tarawera - Post Race Reflection
So it’s all done and dusted. The cumulation of a years work all wrapped up into one day.
